Volunteer Teacher Thailand offers individually-designed teaching and cultural experiences for groups of volunteers with a minimum age of 16 years. It works with the Phang-Nga education authority and schools to offer English Camps, intensive English teaching through fun and educational games, with supervised volunteers undertaking the work after being led through lesson preparation at the VTT office. Schools include the full age range and cultural diversity but detailed programmes vary with the demands of local schools.

The programme is designed and led by Ken Hyde, the VTT director, who is an experienced British teacher who has worked in Thai schools for more than four years.

In addition, groups are offered cultural experiences like visits to the most interesting of the area’s temple sites and an orientation tour taking in the most telling of the tsunami locations where more than 4,000 people died. Our team understands the needs of groups and works with their organisers to achieve what is wanted.

VTT is part of The Volunteer Centre in Khao Lak along with our sister organisation Fun4Kids in Thailand, which specialises in making playground equipment for Burmese learning centres and poor Thai schools, as well as consyruction and decoration work for needy local organisations. Like VTT, F4K provides its service completely free in the local community.

The close working link between our organisations means that your group's individuals can choose - ahead of coming to Khao Lak - what they want to do (teaching or construction work) and still remain within the overall organisation of the group.

VTT is also closely associated with Home & Life home for children and encourages visiting groups to engage in cultural activities and play with the children.

VTT and F4K are fully volunteer organisations and any income or donation generated by the Volunteer Programme goes to providing free services to Thai schools, Burmese learning centres and local communities without regard to ethnic or cultural differences.
